One of the constant concerns that we humans must deal with is how AI and Robots, are going to displace people’s jobs or their employment. In this supposed Utopian world, as the proponents like to paint, AI can just “help” us to do more and to be more creative.
Aside from some very much simpler things, we’re coming to find that that claim of productivity and creativity is bovine feces. Sorry but it is.
Regarding “more”, that assumes a matter of degree. Doing “more” depends on what the person is doing. Picking a crop or doing more accounting assignments, maybe. But in the venue of “creativity”, for humans, it comes to human involvement being eliminated altogether. It is a serious risk for us humans. In passing, I will advise you that I will soon be writing about artwork. It’s not a pretty picture for sure. The subject of artwork, using AI becomes ‘black and white’, in or out matter but we shall delve into that shortly.
The advocates for AI, and robots, claim that 80% plus, of all human jobs, human employment can be done by AI or a robot. Nice to know. I’m not sure that the prospects of using AI and Robots are all that appealing to me, but that is their claim.
So, the logical extension of that scenario, in then displacing human work and human employment going forward. The big problem when you do that, it creates massive amounts of unemployment, which can lead to poverty, amongst other things. So, the logical conclusion to that massive amount of and use of for AI and robots is majorly problematic.
AH, but wait, the AI proponents have already figured out the solution don’t you know? It is called UBI or Universal Basic Income. It’s where we humans jump from the frying pan into the fire.
Under that UBI fantasy, the majority (?) of people get an amount of money, likely monthly, to sustain themselves, while not having the drudgery of having to work for that money. Aside from coming to sound like socialism, which always fails as a social system, it then led to communism, which never works. So, in effect. UBI starts out as Socialism, devolving into communism.
As a practical matter, when you press the UBI proponents “where” the money is going to come from, some of the more ridiculous answer I’ve seen, is “…oh, well the government will just create the money”. Oh, you mean like now, creating trillions of new dollars as the currency descends into a black hole of inflation as it, over time, becomes worthless?
But there is more:
- UBI creates poverty.
- UBI promotes and facilitates “big brother” or a control society. Somebody somewhere is going to tell you where, how and why you can spend your money, in some kind of control grid. And ultimately you will be told what freedoms or luxuries you can enjoy. UBI becomes a total loss of freedom and dignity.
- UBI reduces the will to work and eliminates any kind of job satisfaction or sense of accomplishment you might be feeling today, or ever.
- UBI promotes drug abuse. “…money for nothing, and your MTV”
- UBI is very expensive to implement. Some have already discovered that even if you take away all other social or support programs that people get, those programs will not cover the shortfall that UBI creates.
So, the conclusion, the ultimate end of all of this is a dead end. People need to start thinking about what they want and what they are willing to endure, regardless of whether Time Magazine or any other publication tells them. Humanity is in a danger zone with AI. We need to start realizing that the peaches and cream, utopian future that we are being given, has a few issues we will come to face. As a person, you need to awake to the facts. You need to educate yourself that all is not as it is being painted. The challenges are real. The dangers are real. Slick AI advertising and magazine articles will not change the issues.
